Kevin Doyle's adolescent life in Minneapolis is seemingly normal, but he expends a great deal of energy covering up the fact that he is not only gay but desperately in love with his friend Jon. At the same time, his father--widowed when Kevin's mother died in a car crash two years before--is having his own romantic troubles, and revelations from his father's life make Kevin wonder if his mother's accident was purposeful.
