Barry Lopez explores the nature of resistance in a short-story format in which nine people who can be classified as resisters--who have defied their governments in some way--present their testimonials. Ranging from India to France to Montana, Lopez's stories explore the nature of resistance and its consequences, and each is illustrated with a monotype by Alan Magee.
