Burned out from the stress of working in an emergency room, Ella Majors a takes a job as the personal nurse of Marion Henderson, a 5-year-old who has juvenile diabetes. Through her work with Marion, Ella gets to know Harris Henderson, Marion's father, a distant single parent who hides his pain and fear over his daughter's illness by burying himself in his work. Gently, Ella helps Harris reconnect with Marion. In the process, she and Harris realize that they also have feelings for each other--a situation that is complicated when Harris's ex-wife reenters his life.
