Nick Rey, a Florida lawyer, is shocked to learn that his father, Matthew, has been kidnapped while in Columbia on business. Then, Nick finds that his father had recently taken out a massive kidnapping-insurance policy--and now the authorities feel that Matthew might be trying to commit insurance fraud. Instead of trying to save Matthew, they start to investigate both Matthew and Nick. Next, Nick finds himself expelled from his law firm because his partners feel that he might be in collusion with his father. Nick embarks on a frantic quest to save his dad and clear both of their names. Along the way, he falls for a gorgeous hostage negotiator.
