Waterwoman

In the 1920s, Annie Revels--born with the century--must cope with the tasks of taking care of her much more beautiful younger sister, holding the family together while her mother lies suffering from postpartum troubles, and even--after the father`s drowning--going to work, dressed as a man, working her father`s crab and oyster beds. When she falls in love with Nathan Combs, her life, rather than improving, spirals downward.
