[A] wonderful novel....It's exhilarating to read, beautifully written. It is set in that moment where middle-class women were just beginning to feel that dissatisfaction that being wives and mothers was not enough, but had no real sense of where they could go with that dissatisfaction. It's a counterpoint to THE GOLDEN NOTEBOOK, another great novel.
