Jarod is the possessor of the rare, extraordinary power to become whatever he wants to be, shifting between doctor, circus performer, and movie star as it suits his purpose. Taken from his family at a very young age by a mysterious organization called the Centre, his exceptional genius was cultivated to allow him to adapt to virtually any situation; the training was administered via a series of simulations, which were then sold by the Centre. As Jarod grows up, he realizes that the organization is not using the simulations for good, but merely selling them to the highest bidder, and often doing harm in the process. Therefore, Jarod executes a daring escape, making his way in an outside world that he has never experienced firsthand. Jarod discovers something new every episode, from doughnuts to roach motels, and simultaneously searches for his long-lost family. He also sets about putting his powers to good use, applying his chameleon-like abilities to right the wrongs he encounters. The Centre refuses to give Jarod up, however, and sends a team to track him down, led by Miss Parker (Andrea Parker, LESS THAN PERFECT), the coldly-determined daughter of the man who runs the Centre. She is aided by Broots, a shy computer whiz, and Sydney, the father-figure who raised Jarod and who has mixed feelings about finding him. This starter set allows audiences to discover the world along with Jarod, giving them a taste of the adventures in store in the first season of THE PRETENDER.DVD Features:Region 1Audio: Dolby Surround - English, Spanish& French
